M4IF has 3 public mailing lists. You can subscribe to all three below. We
advise that you at least subscribe to the News list.
The 'News' list is for general information and news around MPEG-4. It has
many members, and is only used for major announcements. Traffic is limited
to about 2 messages a week. This list is striclty moderated, because we want
to keep its membership as broad as possible, and not scare people away by
inundating them with messages. [News List Archives]
The 'Technotes' list is for technical questions and answers on MPEG-4,
including DMIF, Systems, Audio, Video, Conformance Testing, etc. Traffic
averages 2-3 messages a day. Posting is restricted to members, so you will
not receive spam from this list. People that do spam the list will be put on
'moderated' or removed. [Technotes Archives]
The 'Discuss' list is for non-technical discussions about anything that is
relevant to M4IF's goal: the widespread adoption of the MPEG-4 Standard. The
initial trigger for starting the list was the announcement of licensing
terms for the MPEG-4 Visual standard, but discussions will not be restricted
to this issue. Posting is restricted to members, so you will not receive
spam from this list. People that do spam the list will be put on 'moderated'
or removed. Traffic is highest on this list, at least when there is
something to discuss. When the list started, early February 2002, traffic
averaged 10 messages a day.
