MPEG Industry Forum Logo Guidelines

This document provides the basic rules for applying the MPEG Industry Forum (MPEGIF) logo in advertising, promotional material, stationary, product branding and labeling, etc. These logo usage rules provide a uniform and concise identity, necessary to develop and maintain the strong branding efforts for the Forum. Additional rules may be periodically established and incorporated as requirements for the usage of the logo mature.

Who May Use the MPEGIF Logo
As a Member of the MPEGIF, you are permitted to display the MPEGIF corporate logo on your website, provided you adhere to the MPEGIF guidelines for logo use. This permission does not imply endorsement of your organization, its products, activities, or its members and no such endorsement should be construed or stated. Use of the MPEGIF corporate logo on products or product related materials is not permitted. The MPEGIF corporate logo may be used by MPEGIF Members on corporate collateral (presentations, company brochures etc), which are not product related. If in doubt, please contact the MPEGIF Executive Director (execdir@mpegif.org). Anyone who is not a member of MPEGIF and is seeking to use the logo must obtain written permission from MPEGIF through the Executive Director (execdir@mpegif.org).

Who May Use the MP4, MP7 and MP21 Logos
The press may use the MP4 Logo in articles in which the MPEGIF Logo Qualification Program is mentioned or discussed. Any other use of the MP4, MP7 and MP21 logos is permitted only through the MPEGIF Logo Qualification Program.

How To Use the MPEGIF Logo
To assure appropriate usage of the logo, the following guidelines have been established:

Logo Definitions

The MPEG 4, 7 & 21 logos consist of several elements:

  • " the "5 dot" icon
  • " the acronym "MP"
  • " a specific color associated with each one of the version numbers"

These elements have been carefully designed to fit together in a balanced form and the relationships should not be altered. The logo must always be reproduced in a manner that will ensure maximum clarity and provide sufficient background on which it appears. When the logo is reproduced in very large sizes for use in displays, signs, etc., special care must be taken that when enlarging the integrity of the design is not lost.

Logo Typefaces:

"MP" Font: Helvetica
"4, 7 & 21" Font: Helvetica

Logo Colours:
There are two color variations of each individual logo - full color and black/white or grayscale. No alterations should ever be made to either version.

Electronic Versions (RGB):
Black: #000000 (0, 0, 0)
Red: #E21B1A (226, 27, 26)
Green: #1C9531 (28, 149, 49)
Blue: #185CA7 (24, 92, 167)
Process Versions (CYMK):
Black: C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100
Red: C:9 M:89 Y:82 K:2
Green: C:89 M:0 Y:100 K:0
Blue: C:94 M:45 Y:0 K:0
Process Versions (PANTONE)
Black: 325-1
Red: 74-2
Green: 278-1
Blue: 214-1

Invisible Protected Border: Logo should always stand apart from its surrounding (text, graphics, visual elements, etc.). For example, if the logo is 72 pixels wide (1.5 inches), there should be 7 pixels (0.15 inches) of border surrounding the logo. As the logo is expanded, the border surrounding the logo should be expanded in proportion to the logo - approximately one tenth of the width of the logo. For example, if the logo is 288 pixels wide (6 inches), there should be 28 pixels (0.6 inches) of border space.

Logo Don'ts:

Do not modify colors.

Do not modify font values.

Web Usage Guidelines:
Members of the MPEG Industry Forum can obtain web-ready versions of the logo at www.mpegif.org/private. These logos are specially designed for web use only and should not be used in print.

Termination of Use
Members agree, at the MPEG Industry Forum's request, to change or stop using any advertising or promotional material as a result of a misuse. When Member Agreement ends, Members agree to promptly stop using the MPEGIF logo. If Member does not, Member agrees to pay any expenses and fees that the MPEGIF incurs in getting the Member to stop use of the logo.
